Post Producer turned Filmmaker
Amit Kaur is a UK-based Indian filmmaker who transforms her decade of international production experience into authentic, character-driven storytelling. Her BFI Network-funded short Cuppa Chai won at International Film Festival Glasgow and screened at prestigious festivals including Oberhausen and Cleveland.
With extensive narrative experience as 1st AD and Post Producer across India, the US, and Europe—including work on BBC/Netflix's A Suitable Boy—Amit brings deep understanding of storytelling craft to her directing. She has shadowed on Coronation Street and been developed through ScreenSkills-backed FILMONOMICS, Wonder Women TV mentorship, and ITV's Creative Access program.
Currently developing her debut feature CROWN—a British-Nigerian comedy exploring identity through three generations—Amit's slate reflects her commitment to cross-cultural narratives that bridge communities. Her dual perspective, rooted in both Indian heritage and British filmmaking, creates stories that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Amit sits on the UK Asian Film Festival board and champions representation through bold, joyful storytelling that celebrates the complexity of modern multicultural Britain.
