Executive Producer: Thomas Wightman (BFI), Ameenah Ayub Allen

BFI NETWORK Funded 'Cuppa Chai' follows Mira on a whimsical quest to make the perfect cup of tea—crossing cultures, languages, and a sprinkle of magic along the way. It’s a warm, playful look at how something as simple as tea can connect different worlds.

A BFI NETWORK Funded short film created by a female led crew bringing together their diverse cultural experiences. The film is supported by BIFA-winning producer, Ameenah Allen (ROCKS),

and includes award winning cinematographer Beatriz Delgado Mena (Stay With Me, Losing Grace)

and composer Hollie Buhagiar (The Wick).

Kitty Party (Sitcom Taster):

Your invitation into a conversational comedy, a hidden world that thousands of Asian women across the UK partake in, but is never seen. A voyeuristic experience of an entirely female cast, Priya and Sophie join their eccentric Indian aunts Padma, Rani and Gollum for a ‘quiet’ kitty party every fortnight within someone's home, with one gifted the group's collective savings pot. Amidst bad Bollywood singing and gin rummy are heated discussions around what it means to be a modern woman and Asian in a changing British society.

Post Producer Turned Filmmaker

Amit Kaur is a UK-based Indian filmmaker who transforms her decade of international production experience into authentic, character-driven storytelling. Her BFI Network-funded short Cuppa Chai won at International Film Festival Glasgow and screened at prestigious festivals including Oberhausen and Cleveland.

With extensive narrative experience as 1st AD and Post Producer across India, the US, and Europe—including work on BBC/Netflix's A Suitable Boy—Amit brings deep understanding of storytelling craft to her directing. She has shadowed on Coronation Street and been developed through ScreenSkills-backed FILMONOMICS, Wonder Women TV mentorship, and ITV's Creative Access program.

Currently developing her debut feature CROWN—a British-Nigerian comedy exploring identity through three generations—Amit's slate reflects her commitment to cross-cultural narratives that bridge communities. Her dual perspective, rooted in both Indian heritage and British filmmaking, creates stories that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Amit sits on the UK Asian Film Festival board and champions representation through bold, joyful storytelling that celebrates the complexity of modern multicultural Britain.
